COVID Restrictions Strike Again

To further limit contact between individuals, the recent YG public health notice of January 14, 2022 now restricts participation in an organized event or class, to a maximum of 10 from two households. It is for this reason that we are again required to cancel our indoor activities for the time being.

Until further notice:

Wednesday evening range nights are cancelled,

Canadian Firearms Safety Courses will not be scheduled until the restrictions allow, and

The date for the Annual General Meeting cannot be confirmed at this time.

Meeting to Pass Special Resolution

On Monday December 27, 2021 at 12:00 pm (noon) a Special General Meeting will be held in the clubhouse on Grey Mountain Road to pass a Special Resolution to replace the existing January 2018 Constitution and Bylaws with the revised December 2021 version. The new Societies Act and Regulations requires existing societies to transition to the new regulatory structure by March 31, 2023.

Notice to Pass Special Resolution

Whereas the Societies Act April 1, 2021, requires a pre-existing society to submit identified documents within two years after the coming into force of the Act, the following resolutions are hereby made:

  1. Replace the Bylaws of The Whitehorse Rifle & Pistol Club, dated January 2018 with the newly consolidated Bylaws dated December 5, 2021, and
  2. Submit to the Registrar of Societies for filing with the transition application, the following records of The Whitehorse Rifle & Pistol Club :
    • existing Constitution,
    • newly consolidated Bylaws dated December 5, 2021 as approved by Special Resolution, and
    • the statement of directors and registered office of the Society.

The draft version of the Bylaws December 2021 for submission is available here for your reference.  https://wrpc.ca/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/2021-Dec-5-DRAFT-REVISION-TO-BYLAWS.docx

Review draft of new bylaws to comply with Act.

Preparing for next year’s shooting events and programs

Range Security Procedure

Effective November 5, 2021 the new range security procedure is in effect. The key change is that club members will be now be required to lock the chain link gate behind them when entering the range property.

Both gates will remain open during a planned and scheduled event, at which a Range Officer will be present to supervise and ensure range safety.

A sign in book is located in the box attached to the Range Status sign where you will be able to record your attendance at the range.

Your compliance with signing in is appreciated.

FALL clean up

There will be a cease fire on the outdoor range this Saturday October 30, 2021 from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM.

Club members who are committed to supporting the continuing operation of the club are requested to show up to tidy up the outdoor range before Mother Nature begins to launch the winter attack. Any garbage, paper targets that have blown into the bush, back boards that are too perforated to hold a target, metal targets that will require repair or replacement need to be brought in from the target rails and down-range areas. Firing lines and down range areas need to be clear of obstructions and debris.

Additionally, 4 or 5 club members are needed to complete the backstop renovations and clean up the indoor range if there is to be any indoor shooting season this year.

Dress for the weather. Wear appropriate footwear and work gloves.

You will be required to sign in upon arrival.

COVID-19 protocols to be followed. Please don’t come if you are sick, or have been in contact with someone who is sick, or have been asked to self isolate.
